On the 14th and 15th of January, the national kick-off conference of the BMBF Research Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation (Forschungsinitiative zum Erhalt der Artenvielfalt – FEdA) took place online. We were excited to present our new research project ECO²SCAPE and to network with scientists and stakeholders from other projects.
ECO²SCAPE is one of 19 projects on “Valuing and safeguarding biodiversity in politics, business and society”. All of these projects aim to increase the appreciation of ecosystem services and natural capital in businesses and society and effectively contribute to securing biodiversity by developing innovative valuation concepts, governance structures and (policy) measures.
During the conference, various experts from politics and science explained how the new research initiative will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity. A keyword of the debate was “transformation”. The goal is to contribute to a trend reversal for the conservation of biodiversity
