On 29 and 30 November, we visited the Schaalsee biosphere reserve with a group of students. The excursion took place as part of the project seminar “Potential analysis for biodiversity-friendly land use in UNESCO biosphere reserves” in the Bachelor of Geography. The aim of the seminar is to develop and implement a spatio-temporal analysis of connectivity gaps in the landscape and the diversity of (agricultural) land use – in close cooperation with the biosphere reserve so that the results can be used for planning nature conservation measures. The Schaalsee biosphere reserve is one of the transfer regions of our ECO²SCAPE research project and we are very much looking forward to further cooperation!
